When I was growing up, my dad would take me to K&B’s Soda Shop where I would order what my farther called a “Pink Lady” but what it really was called is a Nectar Ice Cream Soda. I LOVED those! LOL It made me feel special when my dad would tell our favorite waitress “A Pink Lady for my little lady” 🙂 I miss those days and I miss my dad. Anyway, I have an Ice Cream Soda recipe that you can add anything to!
Ice Cream Soda Recipe
1/4 cup milk
1 cup vanilla ice cream (or 1 large scoop)
club soda (cold) or seltzer water (cold)
canned whipped cream (optional)
Pour the milk into one tall 16-ounce glass.
Stir in syrup.
Add in ice cream and enough soda water or seltzer
to fill almost to top of glass.
Top with whipped cream if desired.
Serve with a long spoon and a big straw.
Be sure to use different flavors of syrups and ice cream! You can make Strawberry Ice Cream Soda by adding crushed strawberries! For Chocolate Ice Cream Soda add 3 tablespoons chocolate syrup!
NECTAR SYRUP 1 pint:
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons almond extract
- 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp red food coloring
Bring the sugar and water to boil in a saucepan over medium heat. Let boil for 10 seconds. Remove from heat and cool. Once cooled, add in the extracts and food coloring. Refrigerate.
For sodas, pour about an inch of the syrup into a glass before adding soda water.
For cream sodas, repeat the above process, add a tablespoon of condensed milk, and serve with vanilla ice cream.
