Coronavirus Stress Reduction

Stress reduction is important always, but when times are the way they are now, it’s absolutely important. One way to make sure that you are lowering your stress is by practicing self-care. This is essential right now, for everyone, because we need to keep up our health and immune systems, take care of our mental health, and also of course, reduce stress (which will benefit both your mental and physical health, as well).

Sometimes when we practice self care, we get caught up in the face masks, scented candles, bubble baths, and the copious amounts of lemon water. While those things are very important, we are leaving out crucial aspects of self care, which are typically the building blocks for care, in general. Below are 5 things that you absolutely need to add to your self care routine to make sure that you are taking care of yourself in every way possible during this crazy time:

  1. Routine check-ups

Doctors appointments are important for so many reasons. Maybe your medication needs to be adjusted, or you just need a basic check up (which everyone should be getting at least once a year) to make sure that your body is functioning properly. It’s also very important to talk to your doctor about anything that you might be experiencing such as heartburn or anxiety because your doctor can help relieve symptoms, and/or refer you to a specialist.

Other important things to think about (depending on your personal lifestyle) are: routine blood work, HIV/STD testing, yearly exams for women, and between doctor’s appointments, you should be giving yourself a breast exam in the shower every week or two. This is important because breast cancer can form quickly and if it happens between your yearly appointments, you do not want to wait until the next year to find out. Giving yourself a self-exam is painless, easy, and quick.

  1. Dental cleanings

Your smile is the very first thing many people judge you on…unfortunately, even if people say to never judge a book by a cover. If you are going on a date or an interview, or even in your day to day life, you should always feel confident about your smile. Remember to get routine: cleanings, X-rays, teeth whitening (if this is important to you), and any cavities filled.

  1. Change up your routine

Right now, this is more important than ever when it comes to stress reduction and self-care. When you are stuck at home and have nowhere to go, consider changing up your routine. Instead of waking up at 7am, consider sleeping in for a bit. Instead of working until 6pm, take off an hour early and go for a walk. Get outside, go for a walk, read a book, take a bubble bath, play with your dog, talk to your children on the phone, or do something creative. These are great examples of ways to reduce your stress, increase your happiness, while also switching up your daily routine!

  1. Get active

Getting active produces a ton of ‘feel good’ hormones. There are so many options right now, even if you cannot get to a gym. For example, a lot of gyms are offering at-home workouts (streaming online). The gym, Hustle House offers a free 11:30am workout every single day that live streams on their Instagram page. They also offer at-home workout plans for $50 (per 20 workouts). There are yoga classes, YouTube classes, and other written workout plans such as the ones that Kayla Itsines offers. You can also walk or run around your neighborhood, do yard work, dance in your living room, or do your own workout plan.

  1. Declutter your space

If you are going to be stuck in your home for who knows how long, the least that you can do is free up space, clean it, and make it feel good. A great way to start is by getting rid of things that you do not need. If you have jewelry that you can sell, check out Chapes-JPL. They are your one stop shop jewelry buyer in Atlanta.

Why should you sell your jewelry? Well, first of all – it will help you declutter your home, which will help you reduce your stress. In addition, a lot of people are having trouble making ends meet right now. Selling your jewelry (the jewelry that you do not wear) is a great way to make some extra income right now. The saying, “out of sight, out of mind” is so true. What you have put away in your jewelry box probably does not get worn much. If that’s the case, go ahead and sell it.

Chapes-JPL also offers asset loans, so if you are not ready to get rid of your jewelry completely yet, consider getting a collateral loan from them instead. They offer low-interest loans extremely quickly and there is no need for timely credit or background checks since you are getting a loan in exchange for collateral! Chapes-JPL will loan against gold, jewelry, diamonds, watches, cars, and more. With one simple goal, to provide affordable asset loans at a low rate and fair value, Chapes-JPL is a great place to start (and end) when you are decluttering your home and getting rid of your valuables.
